Dog days of summer

Molly was needing a bath in a BIG way. Josh was chosen to scrub her pretty hide.
Tyler was mostly interested in drowning her by inches.

"I can't bear this!"
"I will kill you."

A couple random things

Checkers between the champions
Marble slide!
Josh fixing Abby's leaning towers
A young couple is leaving our church to go out and be a part of a church in Indiana, so we had them over for dinner on Thursday night. Yes, I'm posting a pic of myself cooking dinner since it isn't often that pictures of me look normal... they are shot by a 4 ft tall little guy after all. ;-)
Here's the momma and sweet baby. Maria and Charlotte Conley. We will miss them horribly. I was there when Charlotte was born, and so she's pretty special.

The Roosters Last Stand

We are fewer 3 roosters. They were getting us up at 5 each morning, and I'm pretty sure our neighbors were getting that same helpful awakening. As the biggest and prettiest of the brood, they definitely had their place, but now the 6 remaining hens are happier and eating like they are enjoying the elbow room.
All the deceased roosters looked like this one.
It died happy.
And had a somber burial.
They weren't sure this last one was a rooster, but as he found himself the king of all these queens, this unfortunate bird began to crow loudly...
Clay isn't cut out for this.

Basketball or tea

We no longer have Drew Reed here to help out with our basketball skills, but Jack's trying a little Shaq. Yes, he lowered the rim a lot.

Help, somebody!! It's 100 degrees in the shade!

I took Abby with me to an antique store, and all she was interested in was the soap.

A visit to Marble Falls, TX

I took the kids on a two day trip to visit one of Clay's relatives' new home. They are in the Texas hill country, so it's much like where Marian and Jim used to live in Mesa, CO, with maybe more trees. We pulled the trailer with four 4-wheelers. The Lord gave us nice, cloudy weather which kept temps below 90 each day.
The boys killed a rattlesnake by the creek, and since I don't dangle a machete at my belt, I was extra careful for those "rattles." Then the boys told me that the rattles are NOT very loud, so I just started walking "loud" and stomping everywhere I went. ;-) Must have worked...I never saw one.
This is one of the many small barns on the property. The boys chose this because it housed the 4-wheelers very nicely.
Tyler and Abby by the creek.
Abby hurling rocks into the creek.
The long, long road.
That's about as high as the hills get...and they are endless. Because of the layer of granite/marble under the soil, the trees top off at a certain height.

New sleeping bags

Last month, the boys were preparing to head off on a highly anticipated camping trip. A couple days before leaving, we realized that we had tossed ALL our sleeping bags when we moved last year. So, off to Bass Pro Shop they went, and everyone picked out their favorites. Immediately when they got home, someone thought of sliding down the stairs in these perfectly slippery cocoons. It IS rather silly, but we can't all be old and stuffy, right?

Eric and Abby in one bag.
In an effort to freak out Mom, the two oldest (Jack and Josh) did this. The face is Josh, and the legs are Jack...you do the math.

I have been attempting to update my blog, but whenever I try to post pictures, my computer crashes. It's a Mac, so I'm mystified. There is so much going on in Southlake that it's KILLING me not to be able to post our fun stories and pictures.
This week, we are going to get to the bottom of the issue, but that could be alot longer.
Love you all!
